Te Matatini Shows
Between festivals and international engagements, Te Matatini produces special Kapa Haka events and shows.
These include:
2009 - Koanga Festival. A concert showcasing the top three Kapa Haka teams from Te Matatini 2009. Funds raised were donated to the Samoan Tsunami Relief.
2011 - Te Ru o Te Manawa, Rotorua. A fundraiser for the Christchurch Earthquake. Eight of the top Te Matatini Festival teams, supported by additional Tainui and Te Arawa teams, provided a full day of kapa haka entertainment to over 8.000 people.
2011 - Rangatahi Leadership Programme. Fifty Maori male rangatahi were selected to be part of the Rugby World Cup Opening, alongside the 2011 Te Matatini champions - Te Mataarae i Orehu. The Maori component of the opening was choreographed by Tapeta and Annette Wehi.
2011 - Te Matatini Arohanui Show. A ninety minute stage production blending Kapa Haka with contemproary dance and drama.
2011 - Dame Kiri Te Kanawa Benefit Concert. Opening of the concert by the cast of Arohanui.
