Most of us know energy efficient light bulbs are better for the environment but few households actually make the conscious effort to switch. Like with a lot of things it’s not until you let people know how much they stand to save, will they change their shopping habits.

With this in mind (and winter fast approaching!) we set out to design an interactive tool for EECA’s consumer programme ENERGYWISE that makes it easy for people to buy the right bulb.

We’re pretty excited as the Efficient Lighting Tool is the first ENERGYWISE tool that’s responsive. What this means is you have the option of accessing the tool on your mobile in the middle of the supermarket aisle. And you won’t go blind trying to read the screen because the content adjusts to your device.

I’ve used a suite of Apple products and its iOS operating system for a while now. The attraction is the design-led approach. Apple invest heavily in the look, feel and function of their products. They are easy to power up, connect and fun to use.

Tickets went on sale this week for the New Zealand Rugby Sevens festival – Wellington 2013. As usual there was a web frenzy and the tickets sold out in minutes.

Wellington’s been hosting the Sevens since 2000 and it's a massive event for our capital city. The games at the ‘Cake Tin’ are the most colourful of the World Sevens series and the fancy dress and partying is now a huge part of the Sevens extravaganza.

As anyone working in Wellington knows, the procurement and pitching process to government is never easy – especially for small to medium players. The process has always been controversial, with strong views about the time, effort and expense expended by multiple suppliers chasing work. So it’s great to see the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) trying a new approach by way of the new Government Common Web Services Panel.
